Relationships in Practice: ABLE4Educators – EPV-Approved Course

This July, Relationships in Practice will deliver two face-to-face, Department of Education EPV-Approved summer courses for teachers, SNAs, and Home School Liasion (HSCL).

Our ABLE4Educators summer course provides a 5-day immersive learning experience, offering practical tools and resources to build emotionally safe, connected school environments through evidence-informed relationship-based practices.

Participants will explore how responsive, relational approaches can significantly impact pupil engagement, staff wellbeing, and overall school culture. This course is fully approved for EPV Days under the Department of Education summer course programme.

Locations

Participants can choose between our Cork & Dublin locations. The course runs from July 7th 2025 to July 11th 2025 from 9:30am to 2:00pm each day (including breaks).

  • Cost is €75.
  • Each day blends theory, case studies, group discussions, and hands-on activities.
  • Reflection journals are used daily to consolidate learning.

Course Objectives

  • Understand the importance of quality relationships in promoting wellbeing and learning
  • Gain insight into the impact of infant mental health, attachment, and adversity on children’s development, behaviour and well being
  • Learn the ABLE Brief Intervention model for managing boundaries and building and supporting relationships.
  • Develop skills to foster emotionally safe classroom and school environments
  • Create an individual action plan for implementing relational practices in their school setting

  • Family relationships and the impact on children’s wellbeing

  • Managing relational boundaries for educator wellbeing

5 Day Programme

Day 1: Introduction to the ABLE model and the dynamics of Relationships and relating

Day 2: Infant mental health , attachment and theory of change: What Educators Need to Know

Day 3: Practical Application: Conflict, Repair, and Restoring Relationships.

Day 4: Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Regulation, Co-regulation, and Responding to Emotional Needs.

Day 5: Peer Support: Building Safe, Connected Classrooms and Action Planning.

EPV Days and Certification

  • Receive a Certificate of Completion issued by Relationships in Practice
  • Be eligible for EPV (Extra Personal Vacation) Days in line with Department of Education regulations for summer course attendance
